Bais Rivkah Joins the Race

The flagship girls school of the international Chabad-Lubavitch movement is hoping its thousands of students and alumnae worldwide will help them win a much needed monetary grant offered by Kohl?s in a special Facebook campaign.

Associated Beth Rivkah Schools (Bais Rivkah), located in Crown Heights, NY, is among dozens of Chabad-Lubavitch schools vying for the top prize in the competition, which will award $500,000 each to 20 schools nationally for a total of $10 million.

The school, which boasts a student body of over 2,000 girls and women from preschool to teacher?s seminary, only joined the competition recently, but its students, parents, alumnae and the administration still believe they have a good chance to win the Kohl’s Cares contest on Facebook.

Rabbi Benji Stock, the school’s administrator, says he believes that with many thousands having a direct connection to Bais Rivkah, the school can still make it to the top 20, and perhaps even win the contest.

“Thousands of women and girls, and their family and friends, have a real connection to, and affection for, Bais Rivkah,” he told COLlive. “Whether they attended school here or were a guest at the yearly B’nos Chabad convention – we are honored to be a part of almost every Chabad girl’s education.”

He maintained that in every Chabad-Lubavitch school there is a principal, parent, teacher or administrator who once studied or taught at Bais Rivkah. “Our graduates are educational leaders across the globe, serving as Shluchos and leaders in communities worldwide,” Stock said.

Stock and a group of volunteers assisting with this effort are asking the school’s alumnae from around the world to give back by voting for their Alma Mater in the competition.

“Those who have influence in communities can help by energetically spreading the word, getting their friends and contacts to vote as well.”

The school has launched a massive campaign to incentivize thousands more to vote for them.

A daily raffle will be held with prizes such as iPads, laptops, airline tickets, gift cards and many other valuable items.

And the raffle is free – all you have to do is vote for Bais Rivkah on the Kohl’s Cares contest on Facebook.

The campaign, launched Wednesday, is already showing great results, according a member of the school’s office staff. ?We?re really delighted with the first day?s results, and if we can build on this momentum, we have a great chance at winning. In fact, if we can get every alumna of our school to give us their 5 votes and that of their family members, we are virtually assured success,? they said.

The school has already gone up three ranks in the few hours since it began.
