By COLlive reporter in Crown Heights
This Tuesday, July 6, will be Yossi Hackner’s second attempt to enter public office as council member of the government funded Vaad Hakohol of the Crown Heights neighborhood.
While garnering some 942 votes in the first round, the 29 year-old real estate agent who says he represents “the young vote” did not pass the 50% minimum of the vote required to win.
But this time around he is more confident than ever – although this is his first shot at politics.
“I feel very good, as I am the ‘second person,'” he told COLlive.com Friday, explaining that since residents must choose a minimum of 2 candidates, he’ll be the second choice of both Fishel Brownstein and Rabbi Shea Hecht’s voters.
“That’s why there is nothing I need to do,” he said about his easygoing attitude to the election. “If I say anything I can only cause damage.”
A letter by Brownstein mentioned Hackner as his second choice, but Hackner says, “I’m going to be happy to work with anyone who gets elected.”
Hackner was already preparing this week for an elected volunteer role at the Vaad Hakohol when he attended a reception for 13 New York judges and a few political operatives.
It was hosted by outgoing Vice Chairman of the Vaad Hakohol Chanina Sperlin and was also attended by outgoing members Zev Cadaner and Elie Poltorak and the incoming chairman Zaki Tamir.
“I’m not a politician and I don’t know how the game works,” Hackner later told COLlive.com. “There are plenty of people in the neighborhood that can help with that, like Chanina.”
He said he wants to ensure a smooth transition for the new Vaad, whoever that will be, and said that it’s time for “a new beginning for Crown Heights – enough with the bad blood and machlokes. I urge everyone to vote.”
“I’m not a politician and I don’t know how the game works,” Hackner later told COLlive.com.
Umm. So you’re going to learn on the job? No thanks.
those cuffs can be made custom in china for less then you’ll pay for a shirt in t.j max
Question, who is that Satmar chossid, with the AF on his very fancy cuff?
Thank G-d that you are not IN the Rebbes shchuna, so I can’t bark at you GET OUT (WOOFF, WOOF).
Rabbi Sperlin, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, for the past, present and future,
And to you again #14

You have a beautiful home. You and you family should make beautiful simchos.
We must vote for Shea and Hackner, do not let the old vaad creep its way back in. Shea is a good person, he will do us right.
VOTE SHEA! we need the old vaad out. Fishel is just bringing in all the old guys.
The flash & the ostentation is sickening. No wonder the goyim say all Jews are rich. Gold candleabras? puh-leeeze.
Another thing…when will Chanina finally get it…HE LOST! He’s out. Finito. Bye bye! Gone. O U T. And take Poltorak with you. don’t let the door hit y’all on the way out.
Vote Hackner & Hecht. Brownstein is too weak & ineffective, he’ll be Poltorak’s puppet.
Yossi Hackner is smart enough to know what he has to learn. Hecht is not interested in the community. Brownstein and Hackner all the way.
I am one of the close to 900 people that gave you my vote and trust.
Seeing you the last two weeks, only tells me that I and the close to 900 people that voted for you, did the right thing.
we hope and pray taht you continue you work for criown Heights, in any capacity that you may

Yossi Hackner: “”I feel very good, as I am the ‘second person,'” he told COLlive.com Friday, explaining that since residents must choose a minimum of 2 candidates, he’ll be the second choice of both Fishel Brownstein and Rabbi Shea Hecht’s voters.
IN other words, if you don’t want the vaad to be made up of inexperienced members, vote shea and fishel!
If I wouldn’t read the article, i’d think this is an entry from Guinness world records
Reb Shea Hecht has many, many Maalots, but in this situation, there is a conflict of interest.
