A learning competition in the Montreal Yeshiva Lubavitch boys school has students learning the wisdom of the Jewish sages.
The Chidon Pirkei Avos, the only such in a school we’re told, was established this year in memory of the beloved educator and halacha author Rabbi Eliezer Wenger OBM.
His son, Rabbi Mordy Wenger, a head Mashgiach in the Montreal Zal, and Rabbi Shmuel Vaisfiche, teacher of grade 5, led the final tests on Monday for grades 7 and 8.
The finalists were Eliezer Shur, Mendel Rudski, Mendel Ashkenazi, Boruch Ceitlin, Moshe Berkowitz, Avraham S. Yarmush and Zalmy Cohen.
The winners of grades 7-8 Chidon were:
1st place: Moshe Berkowitz
2nd place: Mendel Rudski
3rd place: Mendel Ashkenazi

Rabbi Moshe Ezagui is the best teacher Montreal ever had. He is really a dugme to the students. and he is worth his weight in gold…..(now don’t lose any of that weight…no diets..) Be-emes he is the very best.
