Hundreds of children and adults joined an amazing parade of Jewish pride through the main streets of Kharkov – Pushkinskaya and Sumskaya.
Despite being a public holiday the turnout was bigger than ever and the police closed the two main streets of Kharkov to let the crowd march.
The parade began with the 12 pesukim and program arranged by Rabbi Levi Raices. Rabbi Moshe Moskovitz spoke, and mentioned that this year we are celebrating 20 years of the Jewish community and the return of the shul.
People looked on from the street, stores and houses – taking photos and filming the kiddush Hashem in the streets. Many elderly participants mentioned the tragic marches of Jews in the holocaust in Kharkov – and how miraculous it is to see Jewish people walking on the same streets, with the police’s assistance.
On returning to the shul the fun continued with a jumping castle, pony rides and face painting.
Barbeques and bonfires were made for the students and a farbrengen was held with Rabbi Chaim Levinson.
