One of the many who felt at home at Sunday’s Great Parade on Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights was Chief Joseph Fox, NYPD’s commanding officer of Patrol Borough Brooklyn South.
And for good reason.
As he made his rounds greeting elder rabbis and Chassidim, all expressed their appreciation for the police’s cooperation in making the Lag BaOmer march a reality.
He warmly embraced the Rebbe’s secretary Rabbi Leibel Groner, whom he provided a police escort to the parade, and also spoke to the Rebbe’s secretary, Rabbi Sholom Mendel Simpson.
Chief Fox also greeted Rabbi Yoel Kahn, the Rebbe’s ‘Chozer’ and Crown Heights residents Sholom Ber Drizin, Shmuel Malamud, his son Moshe Malamudand Yankel Pinson.
“I am beyond touched by what I see,” Fox told COLlive.com.
My officers tell me there is no other place they would rather be today.”
He was accompnied by his friend Chanina Sperlin, Vice Chairman of the Crown Heights Vaad Hakohol.

Reb Leibel Groner was always well connected with the NYPD.
I remember an incident in nun gimmel that got out of hand and it was thanks to Leibel Groner’s contacting the police that it got resolved.
It is nice to see him getting the recognition and Kovod he deserves.
The Parade was full of amazing simchah; young and old enjoy the day immensely
It is a great credit to the organizing committee.
May Crown Heights continue to be a beacon of light and positivity for Lubavtch worldwide and beyond.
It is appreciated
With a name like that, anything’s possible – even in the high ranks of NYPD..
