Today, 9 Iyar, is the yahrzeit anniversary of three known Lubavitch Chassidim of the past generation.
Many use the saying of Shimon Hatzadik in Pirkei Avos to describe the three – “The world stands on three things: Torah, the service of G-d, and deeds of kindness.”
Torah: Reb Yisroel Levin – Neveler, was a brilliant scholar who taught Jewish children in the face of Soviet religious oppression. Although losing 8 of his 11 children, he remained a joyful man and prayed with a passion. He passed away in 5708 and was buried in Tzfas, Israel.
Tefilah: Reb Nissan Neminov, the revered Mashpia in Tomchei Temimim Yeshiva in Bernoy, France, influenced thousands merely by his G-d fearing devotion. He passed away in 5744 and was buried in Jerusalem.
Charity: Reb Pinchos Althaus, the Rebbe and Previous Rebbe’s go-to man in Israel, helped build the Kfar Chabad village and dedicated his life to strengthening Chabad institutions. He passed away in 5723 and was buried in Tzfas.
