Tzion and Rosa Shenian, married for over 18 years, gave birth to their first baby boy last week.
The Brookville, NY, couple are the parents of two girls, but could not conceive for 13 years.
This week, amidst great celebration, the Bris was performed for their new baby boy at Chabad of Brookville by Mohel Rabbi Levi Heber.
The baby’s father, Tzion Shenian, donned Tefillin and served as Sandek.
Rabbi Mendy Heber, the Shliach of Brookville, was honored to bless the child and introduce his Hebrew name. When the name Menachem Mendel was announced – an uncommon name in the Persian community – family and friends in attendance expressed surprise.
Later, during the festive meal, Rosa Shenian explained the name to the curious crowd.
“All these years, my greatest desire was to be blessed with a baby boy,” she said.
After years of waiting, a friend suggested that she visit and pray at the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s Ohel.
“As I entered the gravesite, I felt that my prayers would be answered. With tears in my eyes I prayed and made a promise – a Neder – that if I would give birth to a boy, I would name him Menachem Mendel. Now one year later, I am grateful to be here fulfilling my promise.”
