The Menachem Education Foundation’s Principal Leadership Program met in Los Angeles, California, this past week for the third week of the program.
Nine Chabad principals from across North America participated in 3 full days of intensive learning and reflective discussions, while also getting to see the Lubavitch community and attending local functions.
The program began at 6:30 AM on Tuesday morning, Feb. 16 – 2 Adar with Shachris at Beis Levi Yitzchok in the LaBrea area. Following breakfast, the opening session was a 3 hour workshop led by the NYC Leadership Academy. The work focused on building teams within schools to lead improvements and change.
The day continued with the principals taking “learning walks through the classrooms of Cheder Menachem, followed by a debriefing session.
On Tuesday night, the trustees of Cheder Menachem attended a dinner to “meet and greet” the principals of Chabad and to learn about the future of Chinuch.
The dinner was coordinated by the Menachem Education Foundation, and was attended by trustees and parents of the Cheder.
Rabbi Yossi Rosenblum, principal of Yeshiva Schools of Pittsburgh, delivered the keynote, addressing the improvements that are being implemented in our system and how parents and community leaders can support these efforts.
Rabbi Avremel Wolowik, principal of Cheder Chabad of Monsey, exclaimed, “The atmosphere at the dinner was energetic and optimistic! The camaraderie between the principals was in itself an inspiration and the Chashivus that the Balei Battim bestowed upon the principals was especially uplifting!”
The program continued on Wednesday and Thursday with the principals continuing their work of developing standards for Yeshivos.
The importance of developing standards is for teachers and principals to have common end goals in sight; to really define what the Yeshiva intends to accomplish through its curriculum and instruction. When a school uses standard-based curriculum it is able to continually evaluate the teaching and learning to ensure that it meets the proper goals.
Rabbi Zalman Shneur, Executive Director of Menachem Education Foundation, remarks, “I am very thankful to Cheder Menachem, Rabbi Mendy Greenbaum and Rochie Stillman for hosting and arranging this beautiful week.
“It is an inspiration for me to be able to work with such a wonderful community school, in which the parents and teachers collaborate to provide such exceptional education for our children!”
Menachem Education Foundation was established to raise the bar of Jewish education through innovative and comprehensive training programs for aspiring educators and school leaders.

Wow! No mention of the phenominal girls schools in L.A. where all the Principals went to learn about differentiated instruction from the national model school for this new and innovative program.
Go BCM, BR and BC, maybe the best Chabad Girls School System in the World!
FYI: fact about Cheder Monsey. The youngest school to participate but yet from the fastest to progress.
Im on there in pic #7
Rabbi Shneur, Kol Hakavod for putting teacher/principal training in our Yeshiva systems, into gear! You are a talented organizer with clear goals, a clear vision, and strong focus. All our children will benefit from this. Chinuch in Lubavitch will become the Chinuch Lighthouse for the world. Melamdim will be proud of their jobs. Young married men will look at teaching as a respectable position. Parents will respect the schools more, and above all – the children benefit. Thank you, Rabbi Shneur for involving professional instructors and our very dear members of Hanholo. May Hashem bless you with the kochos and… Read more »
Well said #7
GREAT SAID!!!!
And I will Quote From A well Known Mechanech in Lubavitch today ” A principal can only be successful if he first was a teacher and taught in a classroom for many years and was suuccessful ONLY THEN can he be a principal!”
With this in mind our Moisdos should chose their principals and maybe with Hashem’s help and the existing PHENOMENAL teachers will our educational system be successful !
All the credit of Cheder Menachem goes to the Rebbe’s shliach Rabbi Yoske Mishulovin who through fire and water brought the Cheder to the stage it is today!
A huge fan
Any reps from Mtl.?????????

That fellow that Rabbi Cunin is greeting is Dr. Ramon Cortines, Superintendent of the Los Angeles School District.
I am impressed!
At a time when all moisdes are hurting financially, the nine schools that encouraged their principals to participate in this fantastic program differentiate themselves from the rest.
May the Principals return safely to their respective schools and have much hatzlochoh bringing the moisdes to an all new high.
HE is the Executive Director. Please, proper titles!
But your question is a very good and important one.
This was for principals across North America. Where were the principals of Oholei Torah and Lubavitch Yeshiva?
What is the combined classroom teaching expirience of all principles involved including the director of the self proclaimed mef. The greatest of all teachers began his career attending the flock. The founder of chassisic teaching also began as a teachers helper. First rule should therefore be teach a few years if you master it &also have leadership qualities then go on. Otherwise we have a divide between management &in class teachers leading to unattainable expectations &unreal goals. Maybe this is the source of so many students failing &falling let’s be real educators not just great thinkers
our schools are amazing
to see the principals so progressive about standards and education
I think Zalmy Shneur looks like an educator with the hat
“Rabbi Avremel Wolowik, principal of Cheder Chabad of Monsey, exclaimed, “The atmosphere at the dinner was energetic and optimistic!”….how was the food ???
i heard it was really inspiring and beneficial.
kol hakavod to the MEF and r’ zalman shneur and everyone that participated in this.
