The Friendship Circle of Michigan will expand the Ferber Kaufman LifeTown located on the Meer Friendship Center with a state of the art, 5,800 square foot sports gymnasium.
The new gym will be built with the generous contribution of Philip and Estelle Elkus, in memory of their sister Florene Elkus and brother Edward Elkus.
Construction is set to begin soon, after months of planning and going through the township’s approval process.
“We are excited that the 2010 – 11 programs will include a full variety of new activities that will be housed in our brand new gymnasium,” said Rabbi Levi Shemtov, director of the Friendship Circle.
“The Elkus’ contribution will have a significant, lasting impact in the lives of people with special needs.”
The gym was designed by Neumann/Smith Architects and will be built by Sachse construction.
