A Shabbos for 600 Russian speaking Jews spent at the Hilton Stamford Hotel in Connecticut, will be one to remember.
For the first time in many years, men, women and children gathered for an inspirational weekend filled with prayers, meals, lectures and Farbrengens.
Shluchim from Staten Island, Rego Park and other locations in New York, New Jersey and Boston arrived with their Chabad House members.
One of them was Rabbi Moshe Chaim Levin, Director of Chabad of Kensington, who was involved with the planning of the Shabbaton.
The organizers were Chamah (Rabbis Hillel Zaltzman, Moshiach Hudaitov and Bentzion Laskin) and Lubavitch Youth Organization.
“Never before have so many Russian speaking Yidden spent such an unforgettable Shabbos together as one family,” photographer Alex Gorokhov of Flatbush told COLlive.com.
Amongst the speakers were Rabbi Yossi Jacobson, Moscow Rabbi Dovid Karpov, Rabbi Eli Kogan, Esther Segal and Sara Mendelson.
Entertainment was on the menu as well, with klezmer singer Pinchas Bobrovski, singer and composer Zlata Razdolina, and cantor Berl Zaltzman.
The weekend retreat was made possible through a sponsorship of the American Philanthropic Alliance.
