It’s not so much of an importemce who the messanger is, but the lesson within the message. Never pass up an opportunity to do an act of kindness because you never know when your own time of need will come around. However, the most satisfying act of kindness is done quietly, without fanfare and with no expectations of honor or recognition. Just as Miamonides ascribes.

Thanks for the inspirational story and the Goldstone smackdown. I remember Shmully Hecht as a defender of things good since the days when he would take on Litvishe Bochurim from Torah Temima or Torah Vadaas who made the unfortunate mistake of making snide comments about Chabad and the Rebbe as they hustled past 841 Ocean Parkway. In fact, he was the one from whom I learned (now i hope I get this right) that the Baer Heiteiv writes that someone who hasn’t put on Rabbeinu Tam is like Karkafta shelo manach tefillin.
