Has anyone here actually read Rabbi Dr. Berger’s book? It is a well reasoned, scholarly work. No Lubavitcher I have ever met has refuted any particular claim in the book; all I hear (and read on the internet) is “Sinas chinam!” without anything backing it up.

Perhaps this should take attention away from their board member Bernie Maddoff and former student Baruch Goldstein.

Cant believe

SOY would allow a divisive book as such in their sale!

love the sale

but it is intersting to note that the last time i was there they put Berger’s slanderous book in every conceivable place: new books, hashkafa books, chassidus books, halacha books, mashiach books, etc. etc. They were very creative in putting it out in many many places.
A very good response to Berger’s ignorance and slander is rabbi Chaim Rappaport’s erudite, wise and scholarly book which contains a wealth of information and historical background:
The Messiah Problem: Berger, the Angel and the Scandal of Reckless Indiscrimination (Ilford 2002)

so, what's the pshat?

Don’t you think that there is something which should be turned upside down?!

misnagdim

the YU sale doesn’t carry many chassidus seforim. they have been approached many times and straight out refused. They are misnagdim and have lubavitchers have no business buying there
