Yisroel Aryeh Leib Bachar, a Lubavitch bochur from the Chabad Yeshiva in Beitar, addressed a special anniversary session of the Israeli parliament this week.
In honor of Tu B’Shvat, when the Knesset first convened in 1949 (5709), the Speaker Rubi Rivlin invited youngsters from all walks of life to participate in the session. Bachar represented the Chareidi community.
In his speech, Bachar said that the Lubavitcher Rebbe spoke of the need to focus daily on helping others, physically and spiritually. Just as we must try to put on tefillin daily, we must help others as well.
In attendance were Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Shimon Peres and leader of the opposition Tzipi Livni.
