Chabad at the Beaches hosted a Cultural Fair Sunday, offering adults and children alike the opportunity to get into the spirit of the High Holidays in a hands-on, fun and entertaining way.
Over 65 people attended.
The High Holiday Family Fair was held at Chabad @ the Beaches’ Center for Jewish Life.
One popular and fascinating feature of the Fair was the Shofar Factory. Participants saw how a ram’s horn is cured, carefully measured, sawed, drilled, and polished. The result was a Shofar. When the Shofar was complete, participants then learned how to blow it and sound the traditional notes.
Other activities included a scribe demonstrating his craft, Mezuzahs and Tefillin were checked in preparation for the Jewish New Year, participants made round High Holiday Challah and Arts & Crafts, and tasted and rated traditional High Holiday foods.
