yup for whatever reasons Haaratez is well known as a lefty paper akin to NYTimes vechulu and very very seldom have nice things to say about frumkeit altogether, so I too was rather surprised after reading this piece.
And just so you know an article does not just go in alas, the editors and clan edit and confirm plus agree to content, so obviously, what we know, Chabad is something to reckon with. As if we did not know, but nice to read.

I am not a Lubavitcher, I am one of those “ultra, ultra, ultra-orthodox anti-Zionists” they love to hate so much in Eretz Yisroel, so I read the article with great interest to see what Haaretz had to say about Chabad, the great American phenomenon. Imagine my surprise… It’s rare to see such a balanced piece, well-researched, without pretension, bias, or irreligious undertones as this… Read more »

While there is (as always in articles about us) some misinformation, he is, sadly, rather accurate and glib about quite a few of our problems. Sigh. Ad mosai????

The shluchim are not “Chabad”, they are the outreach arm of the Chabad movement, which also comprises many thousands of people k”y who are not shluchim in the official sense.
