UK Rabbi S and Limmud

For anyone following the local news in the UK, listening to this Rabbi S I think you should go. You can influence and inspire people. Dont listen to the critics.

Schools
December 6, 2010 3:36 am

One of the questions is about Jewish schools. Dershowitz and Schochet seem to advocate for community schools i.e. not government funded. Hoeline is a little vague. Personally I think if we could get money from the government then why not. We wouldnt have to bear the brunt of the crazy costs. one less holiday Rabbi Schochet? Fair point but what about the many for who it would mean one less meal?

It is not just for people looking for inspiration. I don’t think I am and I still enjoyed interesting insight. No 18 since you’re counting now more that 6500. No 11 it is for the benefit of klal yisroel. A great way to get a chanukah message out to the world no?

I never heard ot it.

Never heard of torahcafe before. How come this is the first time they advertized on here?

I checked for more stuff from the speakers only Shochet turns up. He’s got one on “Are you really what you’re worth?” which has more than 16,000 views and some other ones. How can I find out about more updates of new stuff that comes to the site? And where can I watch more of this Rabbi?

It is 6 hours since the broadcast. It has over 4500 hits in that time. You tell me what the point is. A fantastic presentation, excellent moderation from Bailah Olidort and powerful delivery from all three speakers. This is as professional as you can get. Torahcafe does a superb job in general but they outdid themselves on this one. A good choice of speakers, good blend.

more of the same please

I watch a lot of religious stuff. I can’t recall ever having watched something of such high calibre. Three intellectuals talking Judaism. Each one making great points. No heated exchange just complimenting one another in their viewpoints. A good roadshow. Someone here suggested getting them into some symposium together. I would pay good money to see that!

go baila!!!!!

and really enjoyed. how do we get to make more secular jews aware of this? i noticed that torahcafe advertised this marginally through col and others. but what about chabad houses who could bring it to the attention of their lay members. this needs to get out there more. i don’t know what it costs torahcafe but if they’re putting it together they should do better pr too. maybe someone from torahcafe can comment here on that.

Apparently you are. Olidort and Torah Cafe deserve credit for a really well done program. It is different from the other stuff out there, and gets viewers to think about real issues. Kudos!

Best lines
December 5, 2010 7:17 pm

Best lines in this presentation: Dershowitz: “I want a one handed lawyer. Lawyers are always saying on the one hand…on the other hand. I want a one handed lawyer. In other words he didn’t want a Jewish laswyer.”

Schochet: “A week in the Bermudah or a lifetime education for your child, is a no brainer for me.”

Olidort reminds me of a CNN talkshow host. Am I the only one who doesn’t get the point of this presentation?

I was always a Dershowitz fan. I’m now a Shochet fan as well. Well done!

Excellent
December 5, 2010 6:31 pm

I watched it through Torahcafe.com Maybe it is available elsewhere as well. To have three prolific thinkers like this offer their perspective on Judaism is very good. Especially because I found that they were all pretty much saying the same thing but from different angles. And they come from three different backgrounds. Would love to have the three of them live in some symposium.

CAN'T WAIT

I called this guy ten years ago when I heard him speak in Germany. Since then he’s been a rising star. COL listed him as one of 5 up and coming Chabad Rabbis. I think he’s arrived. With Dershowitz, that’s impressive. Another Shochet star is born.
