I lived in Melbourne all my life and only once did someone scream something at me

The good fight!

I, personally, am too jaded to put much energy into fighting vicious, anti- semitic poor excuses for humanity, whether they be football “heroes” or non law- abiding law enforcement agents. Unlike post #1, however, I applaud M.V. for being willing to fight the good fight. I hope the perpetrators are penalized and that others of their ilk learn to keep their anti- semitism to themselves -at least outwardly. Then M.V. should get on with his life. None of us needs lowlives to like us; we do, however, have the right to count on the law to make sure they behave… Read more »

In general we need to be proactive

We are all so afraid to do the right thing. People who try to nip things in the bud for the sake of others are the real Heroes.

For #7: For the last 10 plus years I have been working in a non-Jewish area of Melbourne which is predominantly Moslem. I have never been abused either verbally or any other way. Your statement that “Not one day passed that I was spared being called a racial epithet by some anit-semite” doesn’t ring true to me. Sure, there have been times when I was walking on Hotham St that yobbos have called out from cars but that was certainly not on a regular basis. From your statement about what you want to do to these people it sounds like… Read more »

He absolutely did the right thing!

He’s not some crazy man! He know’s exactly what he is doing! And yes, His children respect what he did and really experienced what it means to really stand up for what you are and who you are!! I am proud of him for standing up for not only himself–but the jews collectively!

We should all be proud of Menachem and his courage in the face of hate and bigotry. May I also point out that the title of this article, aside from being grammatically incorrect, is also inaccurate. The title in the article of The Age is “He fought the law, and the law won.” Click on the link to the article and read it for yourself. It is another example of the police protecting their own rather than protect the rights of the citizens they are sworn to protect. This is how it starts…

We’re so proud of our friends the Vorchheimers!!

for Melbourner

I was in Melbourne for 4 years. Not one day passed that I was spared being called a racial epithet by some anit-semite. I only prayed that one day I would be able to catch one of these idiots at a light and punch HIS lights out. Had I been Rabbi Vorchheimer, I would not have been so polite.

BTW: YD Groner A”H would simply wish these fellows a misa meshuna as they drove by.

also as a fellow melbournite i think what you wrote is a disgrace. jews cannot be seen as objects of abuse and him standing up for himself and his people will show his kids a thing or two about jewish pride.
i personally know his children and they are not that young, nor are they damaged or traumatised by the incident.
on the contrary they see their father as a hero, as do i.

menachem continue to fight for our rights and not let these attacks go by unnoticed and un-consequenced.

So the anti-Semites won?
November 28, 2010 2:51 am

Am I correct that so far his efforts have been stymied?

He won the law
