A group of Chabad Shluchim who are located in the European Quarter of Brussels, Belgium, seat of the European Union (EU), have gathered this week.
It has been 10 years since Rabbi Moshe Garelik and his wife Chana Sima have arrived in the capital city to spearhead Jewish activities and advocacy.
The modest Farbrengen to mark the occasion coincided with the inaguration of a new library that will service the kollel members of the Halacha Institute and the European Yeshiva, as well as the Shluchim community.
The library was named Yad Eliyahu in memory of Refael Eliyahu Hezkia OBM, the son of Rabbi Levi Hezkia, one of the Shluchim to Milan, Italy.
Speakers at the event included Rabbi Gershon Mendel Garelik, Head Shliach in Italy and the spiritual guide of the organization’s operations, his son Rabbi Levi Garelik, the rabbi of the Jewish Community at the EU.
Additional speakers were Antwerp Shliach Rabbi Shabtai Slavatitzky, Paris Shliach Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Pewsner and Brussels Shliach Rabbi Menachem Chadad.
They praised the work of the Shluchim at the EU, running various Jewish organizations and institutions for the benefit of Jewish communities in western and eastern Europe.
