Beginning this January, college students looking to delve into Torah study will have the opportunity to study in the relaxing atmosphere of North Miami Beach, Florida at Yeshiva Torah Ohr.
The Yeshiva, under the auspices of Merkos Lubavitch of Florida and associated with Chabad on Campus, specializes in providing a comfortable and friendly surrounding for “the typical American college student wishing to grow in their commitment to Yiddishkeit,” the directors said.
Heading it will be Rabbi Immanuel Storfer, former psychology major at NYU and alumnus of Mayanot, who has been a mashpia in Chovevei Torah Crown Heights for the past 3 years, and has successfully directed college oriented Torah programs in the past including the Ivy League Torah Study Experience and Miami Torah Experience last winter.
Joining him full-time will be Rabbi Yisroel Geisinsky, who served as a maggid shiur for the past 3 years in Chovevei Torah and spent a year on shlichus where he developed a highly structured curriculum for a Baal Teshuva institution located in Moscow.
Other local Floridian shluchim on staff will include Rabbis Mendy Fellig, Levy Friedman, Yossy Gordon and Yosef Marlow.
Students will learn at the Magen Dovid Shul located on 171st St. and 6 Ave, and will be housed nearby and provided with three nutritional meals daily.
The opening semester begins January 5th, 2011, and space is limited. Ample scholarships are available for early applicants.
In addition to the full time semester, the new Shluchim will be offering winter retreats and shabbatons. Students can participate in the annual Miami Torah Experience from December 21-30, 2010.
Students will have an opportunity to study Torah from the original text, and enjoy special guest lectures from esteemed Rabbis such as Manis Friedman, Sholom Ber Lipskar and Leibel Schapiro.
These new shluchim were appointed by the head Shaliach of Florida, Rabbi Avrohom Korf.

The term baalei teshuva is wrong. These are late beginners, not baalei teshuva.
its time for every state in usa to have a chabad yeshivah for BT it would create many posiotions for yungerliet in kolel, and a place for shluchim to send there bhb when they have 10 days off work vechulu.
Hatzlocha Rabah
I am very pleased to hear this wonderful news.
May you continue to go from strength to strength.

An 18 year old frum from birth bochur is searching and still testing the waters. Would this be a good place for him to ‘return’ to his roots. He totally missed out was kicked out of yeshivas…..wasnt really into yiddishkiet. dropped most of it. He is still so young and pure and i wonder if i encouraged him to try this program, where he has a new chance from square one to start again? what do you think?

Immanuel, I loved the video, may you continue to grow and be a naros lehair in Miami and you are giving tremendous nachas to the Rebbe and making a huge kiddush Lubavitch, and thanks for being a great inspiration to me as to what is a Lubavitcher Chassid, L’Chaim,

Great timing. So many students are searching for yiddishkiet. With that powerteam duo, they are very likely to succeed.
