Two different organizations working with Lubavitch bochurim were hosted, at separate times, in the Sukkah of Crown Heights businessman Mendel Schneerson on President Street.
On Motzoei Shabbos Chol Hamoed Sukkos, Schneerson welcomed a Chassidic Farbrengen organized by Vaad Hatmimim, a central organization that works with Chabad Yeshivos worldwide.
Leading the Farbrengen was Rabbi Yisroel Friedman, Rosh Yeshiva of Oholei Torah in Crown Heights and a member of Vaad Rabbonei Lubavitch committee.
Hours later, Schneerson hosted his wealthy father-in-law Sholom Ber Drizin and the beneficiaries of the Dor Deah Foundation which he funds.
He was joined by Rabbi Mendy Hendel, Director of the “Chabad World Center to Greet Moshiach” which runs the Hachnosas Orchim organization during the month of Tishrei.
While Hachnosas Orchim sets up bochurim with room and board during the month and organizes learning programs in 770, Dor Deah pays for traveling expenses for bochurim who excel in their learning.
Dirzin was said to give close to 1 million dollars for the messianic oriented program.
This year, the mainstream Vaad Hatmimim has offered alternative hospitality arrangements in addition to their regular program which includes shiurim and farbrengens.
Mendy has the Koach hoatzmus to be nose hofchim.
Shiffy,
I would love to tell you who he is, but unfortunately the fellow you refer to is lost amongst the crowd.
I have no idea why I am making an issue out of this.
The first pictures look like a Tish by those Rebbelach. 🙂
hansas orchim
i dont have so much money like them and i have people in my house and made a BIG farb. in my sukkah dos that count for news. and i sure lots of other NICE people did the same
Who is that handsome guy in the corner with the tie, is he single?
having been a guest in that sukka for some of the yomtov meals, i can attest that the meals were shared together by people aligning themselves with both groups. and they danced together at the end of the meals too.
Nice to see so many bochurim in attendance at R’ Yisroel’s farbrengen. It’s refreshing to see that such a chassidishe mashpia is appreciated by the young generation.
Sit down and farbreng with Mendel Schneerson for a couple of hours, you’ll find him more learned and more of a bal shmueh than many of the so called “rosh yeshivahs and mashpiim” of today.
lol,this a golusdike new definition
now achdus means “separation”
TWO farbrengens????? ACHDUS IS ONE
the two farbrengens happened on the same night, back to back, on motzei shabbos.
all the bochurim, from both farbrengens, behaved respectfully to one another. the first group that finished cleaned up very quickly and efficiently to make room for the next group as soon as they were done.
the second group did not put any pressure on the first group to hurry up, but rather waited patiently.
bring them together at the same time
these 2 events were held on separate nights. why is that called achdus?
In order for it to be unity, wouldn’t you need both groups there at the same time, not on different nights??
I’d like to see them farbreng TOGETHER in the succa!
Yankel you’re in pictures 1,2,3,4 and 6! I have only one thing to say: “Nissin” would be proud…
What kind of achdus?
you cant read, it says separate times!
nice to see achdus in crown heights!
Should this be a headline??!!
How low are we that we should be impressed that a Lubavitcher hosted two different groups (with opposing viewpoints) at TWO DIFFERENT TIMES!
Maybe I’m just naive to think that Ahavas Yisroel means just that (even to fellow Lubavitchers).
