Building the Rebbe’s Sukkah

As customary not to waste time with building a Sukkah, Shazak Zirkind and Yonasan Hackner with the help of some dedicated bochurim were quick to build the Rebbe's Sukkah on Motzei Yom Kippur in the courtyard of 770. Photos

i’m sorry but the Rebbe himself compared 770 to the bais hamikdash in many ways many times (i’m not saying that 770 is the beis hamikdash)the rebbe calls 770 beis rabeinu shebabovel
and on the other hand if some one respects the rebbe they should not be making up explanations on what the rebbe means bassicaly either extreme is to extreme and it’s sometimes very hard but we can’t cut and paste what the rebbe says to our benefit so long as we don’t hear from the rebbe himself, ignoring somthing OR interpreting it is wrong

Your “Kal Vachomers” defy logic. No one is talking about forgetting about the Rebbe, burning dollars, or stopping the sending of kvittelach to the Ohel. These are things that Jews have been doing for thousands of years. Things they havent been doing since Rebbe made kiddush for his family in the Gemara… Push a Jew out of the way to make room for the Rebbe to walk to his shtender to daven. Eat on fast days because Moshiach is already here Say that their Shul/Yeshiva is the Bais Hamikdash Say that their Rebbe/Tzaddik never died and do everything they can… Read more »

Reality
September 20, 2010 6:07 pm

No One should be called not a Chossid just for accepting the very sad reality of The Rebbe’s passing and that we should not pretend this is not the case. Calling someone not a Chossid is a way to squash a healthy and civil debate about the need for living leadership in Lubavitch today. As we see what goes on in 770 with flags and shvils and see sadly so many frying out it is clear that leadership and respect for Rabbonim are needed. We are a great community but that doesnt mean there is never anything to improve.

So we should stop watching videos of the Rebbe? We should burn the dollarim we received from him, etc.? I’m not a Meshichist, but as the comment number 12, everytime I see things related to the Rebbe I’m moved and there is only one thing I want: seeing the Rebbe again very soon. If people want to build a Sukkah for the Rebbe, let them do it. It’s not a question of being Meshichists or not. Every Lubavitcher has the Minhag to send letters to the Ohel for the Rebbe. And what? Because the Rebbe is no longer alive, we… Read more »

September 20, 2010 12:05 pm

a nice article was just posted about a group of bochrim who went out of their way to do something good for the community and all the comments are people arguing back and forth in between the mishichists and the antis. no one has anything nice to say? how about “thank you for building the sukka!” even if you don’t plan on sitting in it, it’s not causing anyone any harm!!

I find it astounding how no matter what people say some people will allways view it with a warped twisted way of thinking (like making up “inbetween the lines” reading) I never dictated what a chossid is. BUT you just did!!! It’s allso humorous to see somone comment that the rebbe never DEMANDED ACHDUS and SIMCHE AND apparently you allso hold that the rebbe never demanded that we believe MOSHIACH IS COMING NOW (wich by the way has nothing to do with being a chossid it was the rebbe’s genuine wish that every jew feel this way) just go check… Read more »

Maybe we should remove the rebbe’s platform, shtender etc. to create more space in 770. After all, one has to know which psukim from the gemara (?!) to take literally!

Only a Lubavitcher who never met the Rebbe would say who the Rebbe needs as a Chasid. Emunah in Hashem yes. Emunah that the Rebbe ZT”L is alive and going to use his Sukkah. Sadly not.

Yes!

I got lekach from the Rebbe as a young girl, the Rebbe stood @ the door ……….like a breath of fresh air to see the Rebbes Sukka again!

I still enjoy seeing things that belonged to the rebbe such as his sukkah.

Besides, I believe other people go in to shake lulav and esrog, and it certaintly brings zechusim to the Rebbe for people to do that in his succah.

what a bitter sweet victory
it’s so nice that after so many years the succoh is errected again on motzei yom kipur (like b/4 gimmel tammuz)
on the other hand why should it bother people?and why are we dictating to each other what to feel?
CHEVRA WAKE UP!!! we should all be happy and in Achdus (the point af succos)and the main thing is that we should ALL believe and hope that we will see the Rebbeh very soon with our phissical eyes GUT YOM TOV GUT YOM TOV I love you all

you sound bitter. a little emunah would do you alot of good. we as chassidim need to believe in our Rebbe. we both need eachother. but with an attitude like yours the Rebbe doesn’t need you as a Chassid.

You are most likely a Baal Teshuva or a FFB that was to young to remember the Rebbe. All this does is make Klal Yisroel mock the greatest Tzaddik of the past 100 years. Chassidim like you are the reason why more people arent attracted to Chabad and why the rest of the frum work mocks you. You will never change because you have been brainwashed by people that just couldnt move on before or after Gimmel Tammuz. A chasid has no place to say who is a chasid of the Rebbe and not. Only the Rebbe can make that… Read more »

The Rebbe is now Rebbe
September 19, 2010 4:09 pm

Is the Rebbe now the level of Rebbe? Should we begin to take EVERY posuk from the Gemara literal? Rebbe made kiddush so now the Rebbe ZT”L needs a sukkah?
