A sold out crowd recently attended Chabad at the Beaches 7th anniversary dinner.
The evening, which featured a four course dinner, recognized Zohar and Yona Levite for their outstanding contribution as one of the founding families of Chabad at the Beaches.
The guest speaker was the original rappin’ reggae rabbi, Dr. David Lazerson, also known as Dr. Laz. His talk, titled Skullcaps ‘n Switchblades, focused on his experiences as an inner city Buffalo public school teacher as well as his experiences bringing together the Jewish and black communities following the Crown Heights riots in New York.
Other awards were presented to Mr. Kalman Rothman, who received the Friend of Chabad Award in appreciation for seven years of support together with his wife Chanie, Dr. Pam Ervanian received the Aishet Chayil Award, and Rabbi Eli Wilansky, for his work with teen and adult programming.
After the dinner a Farbrengen commenced, and Dr. Laz told personal stories of the Rebbe. The Farbrengen lasted deep into the night, and Shacharis followed shortly after.
